Training and Development Specialist
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Training and Development Specialist for the Housing and Residence Life department. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.
Purpose of the Position: The Specialist provides departmental leadership for training and ongoing staff development coordination for professional, graduate, and student employees. The Specialist coordinates professional and graduate staff orientation, training, and staff development. The Specialist serves as a consultant and resource to professional and student staff within the department in the areas of staff training/development. This position will be responsible for working with and assisting the Division of Student Affairs and the Housing and Residence Life Department with gathering research, creating reports and all assessment efforts related to Residence Life. The Specialist is a member of the Residence Life senior management team and is responsible for providing departmental leadership with students in crisis. The Specialist reports to the Assistant Director for Residence Education.
Salary: $51,986 - $52,000
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties: Principal responsibilities include leadership, serving as a member of the senior management team, leading the staff training program, ongoing staff development, and orientation; crisis management; and other departmental/campus-wide responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred with emphasis in higher education, counseling, learning and development, organization development, talent development, public administration, or related field. Minimum of two years experience working in Residence Life or direct experience in training and development. Experiences working with assessment and evaluation practices. Experience working with a crisis management rotation or similar on-call responsibilities to serve students in crisis. Experience with effective onboarding practices with employees. Experience collaborating with cross-organizational teams and offices. Experience creating and implementing a comprehensive training program. Ability to be self-motivated and to work autonomously.
