The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs construction, maintenance, and repair tasks of city-wide parks, green spaces, and/or public facilities; uses fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides to maintain city-wide parks, rights of way, and green spaces. Operates hydraulic equipment, machinery, and lifts in a competent and safe manner.
Maintenance and repair of city-wide sprinkler systems.
Maintains fields for youth/adult athletics, including layout, striping, ball field grooming, and other preps as needed.
Includes custodial cleaning duties at City parks such as: changing garbage can liners; cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms; resupply of bathrooms; picking up trash/debris.
Promotes good relations with citizens using the parks and rec facilities. Ensures compliance with park rules and regulations, assisting individuals and groups using parks and ensuring safety and security of parks systems.
Oversees and coordinates with part-time park monitor staff.
Performs minor small engine repairs on weed eaters, lawn mowers, tractors, and other equipment.
Chips shrub and tree debris into useable mulch materials.
Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to parks equipment.
Picks up and disposes trash/debris city wide.
Operates a pressure cleaner to maintain city property on an as-needed basis.
Maintains city interiors and exteriors of city buildings; replaces and repairs light fixtures; performs minor plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, and other repairs to city facilities.
Repairs and replaces fencing.
Completes citizen/departmental generated work orders.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by a minimum 1 to 2 years previous experience and/or training involving semi-skilled manual labor, or any other equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License for the State of Florida.
