Job Summary: The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the preparation and processing of all required documents and transactions necessary to ship and receive materials to and from domestic and international locations. Transactions may be required on ERP, carrier based, customer based and/or manual systems. The individual will foster supply chain performance and fully utilize key partner’s capabilities to maximize the economic value to the enterprise. This individual will collaborate with other cross functional teams focused on cost control, process improvements, or other specific supply chain initiatives.

Duties and * Responsibilities*:

  • Coordinates shipments and/or deliveries with carrier and/or forwarding agents or customer agents.
  • Distributes required documentation to: forwarding agent, carrier, customer and other necessary recipients.
  • Communicates shipping volumes and priorities closely with the Production Manager to optimize available resources.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Maintains shipping records, including providing tracking or shipping history information to customers upon request.
  • Generate and/or maintain various shipping reports, as required.
  • Maintains Customer Order Logistic Information sheets and updates electronic file on M: drive.
  • Responsible for investigation of issues related to shipment and receipts. This will include immediate resolution of outgoing and incoming material issues as well as storage, retrieval and analysis of historic shipping and receiving transactions and documentation.
  • Effectively lead cross-functional root cause and corrective action to resolve company receiving and customer-related shipping issues.
  • Leads communications within the Shipping/Receiving area and communicates status of Shipping/Receiving activities to cross functional members within organization. This position is responsible for preparing agenda and chairing weekly shipping meetings.
  • Obtain freights quotes for prepaid shipments to ensure best possible rates with required service levels.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of solutions to problems potentially affecting the flow of material and support of customers.
  • Formally document new or changed procedures and identify staff members that require training or knowledge of changed procedure. In some cases the Logistics Manager may be required to provide the training.
  • Maintain knowledge of current international import/export regulatory requirements and update applicable standard operating procedures as necessary.
  • Strong working knowledge of tariffs and HTS codes.
  • Processing inventory draw orders, adjusting and reconciling Excel spreadsheets.
  • Complete other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Guidelines: Experience/Training/Education

  • Associates Degree, four year college degree preferred
  • Able to understand, speak, read, and write in English
  • Five years related experience in distribution operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation to include BOLs, export paperwork, UPS/FedEx processing, freight claims, and invoicing
  • Background/experience in a JIT/Lean manufacturing environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of MRP/ERP and/or Netsuite/Oracle experience a plus

· Supply chain management and supplier partnering techniques

· Extremely high attention to detail, accuracy and consistency

· Weekend and overtime may be required as business needs require

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
