Job Description: LEGAL ASSISTANT
OVERVIEW

General Mills is seeking Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Legal Team. The work is challenging and offers an excellent opportunity to work in a high-caliber, collegial department with other dedicated professionals on a wide variety of legal matters. The position also offers the opportunity to work with some of General Mills most well-known brands. Working with us in a corporate capacity requires a strong focus in your area of expertise and strong attention to detail coupled with a strategic understanding of the overarching goals of the company, our customers, and your colleagues.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative support for our VP Deputy General Counsel; Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property, and other attorneys as needed
  • Calendar Management, including coordination of meetings and travel arrangements
  • Typing/editing/proofing legal documents, contracts, correspondence, PowerPoint presentations and reports
  • Maintaining filing systems and records
  • Manage data input and database management for contracts, billing (Legal Tracker system), and others as required
  • Participate in and/or lead team and department meetings
  • Act as liaison for the department with vendors (including outside counsel), handling invoices and expenses
  • Experience working with confidential and privileged information
  • Act as a liaison for attorneys and provide customer service to clients outside the Law Department
  • Perform a variety of project-related duties to support Law, External Relations, Government Affairs and
  • Ethics and Compliance initiatives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 10+ years related secretarial/administrative assistant experience
  • Intellectual Property experience is preferred but not required
  • Degree or Certificate of Completion from an accredited Administrative Assistant training program (an extra 3 years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement)
  • High proficiency in frequently used software programs (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Concur) and familiarity with simple database management. Willingness to and aptitude for learning new software and processes
  • Seeking an employee to reside in the Minneapolis area and work from the General Mills World HQ building, however this position offers a very flexible work schedule
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in an in-house Law Department strongly preferred
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills is essential; must be able to effectively deal with people at all levels of the organization and outside the company
  • Ability to work with detailed information in an organized fashion using problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must have proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition
  • Must use resourcefulness and tenacity in finding solutions and information from a variety of sources
  • Initiative to work proactively and independently and problem-solve with minimal direction, yet be willing to ask for help when needed
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks with a results orientation while remaining calm under pressure
CONSIDERATIONS:
  • Position is considered a Hybrid role with time in Minneapolis office and opportunity for working remote from home.
