Fiore Gold Pan Mine, located near Eureka and Ely, Nevada is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team! Summary of Position: The laboratory technician will be responsible for all sample preparation duties and sample receiving. Duties include but are not limited to complete knowledge of all equipment used in the sample receiving and preparation laboratory, safe analysis of production and metallurgical assay samples.

Essential Functions

Accurately receive, log, prepare, process analyze, and report results of analytical testing of daily crusher, blasthole, and metallurgical samples.
Use of jaw crushers, riffle splitter, rotary splitter, and ring & puck pulverizers in the sample prep room.
Ability to repetitively lift 10-to-15-pound sample bags into and out of ovens, onto carts, and into sample prep equipment.
Use laboratory balance to quickly and accurately weigh samples for cyanide shake and fire assay processes.
Safely handle chemical reagents, such as Sodium Cyanide, Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, and fire assay Flux.
Follow Supervisor or Lead directions and complete work based on Company guidelines for safety, environmental compliance and general work practices and procedures.
Calibrate, maintain, and utilize AA (Atomic Absorbance) instruments to produce assay results.
Must be able to accurately collect and report results into a variety of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
Prepare standard solutions and other laboratory reagents.
Fire Assay and other analytical methods as required.
Great attention to QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control)

Experience and Training

Two (2) plus years of experience in a mining or commercial laboratory preferred.
Experience operating/troubleshooting AA or ICP instruments preferred.
Experience with wet laboratory techniques (pipetting, solution preparation, dilutions) preferred.
Excellent organizational skills for heavy sample load/high throughput.
Ability to multi-task to monitor several tasks at once.
Basic math skills to calculate dilution factors and solution concentrations quickly and accurately.
Exemplary safety and attendance records.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize a heavy workload.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers in a team environment.
Familiarity with chemicals and laboratory procedures preferred.
Ability to perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, hot and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. When in the field, appropriate hearing protection may be needed.

Safety

Expected to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while in a production environment (Hard hat, appropriate face and/or eye protection, safety steel toed boots, Reflective Visible Clothing/Vest and proximity suits as needed) or as required for the specific job duty. Must be able to wear a respirator to perform specific job duties by utilizing a ½ or full-face respirator. Be alert and observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Assure that appropriate task training has been completed and documented for all equipment, vehicles, and systems.
