We are looking for a highly collaborative individual to be part of the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) Training and Capabilities team. The Medical Operations Senior Manager provides project management leadership to the Training and Capabilities team and cross-functional stakeholders and supports the strategic planning and tactical execution of medical affairs training projects. Collaborates with key stakeholders across multiple functions to support the management and delivery of learning solutions and resources aligned to the training needs and organizational goals of Vertex Medical Affairs. The individual is expected to apply project management experience and technical knowledge in the development, initiation, planning, execution, maintenance, and closing of training projects as well as other departmental initiatives KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to the following: Learning Management System ADMINISTRATION
  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) for Medical Affairs, execute administrative tasks and implement best practices
  • Apply deep understanding of concepts and principles in mandatory training to create and maintain GXP and non GXP courses, user groups, curricula, and learning assignments within LMS
  • Identify and resolve technical and operational problems reported by system users to ensure completion, drive training process improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Generate and analyze reports to maintain and provide training metrics to training partners and stakeholders
  • Execute evaluations of effectiveness and impact of training programs on intended objectives and utilize data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods
  • Liaise across organization with other functional Training Coordinators and LMS Training Administrators to align and integrate mandatory GXP and non-GXP quality training initiatives to achieve Medical Affairs training objectives and requirements
  • Plan and facilitate regular meetings to ensure projects and plans move forward and milestones are achieved
  • Act as administrator for digital resource repositories in GMA (SharePoint, Teams, global sites) to update and maintain training resources and content in collaboration with subject matter experts (onboarding, capabilities and disease area curricula)
  • Design and develop engaging and effective learning solutions using available authoring tools in response to department needs and requirements that arise
  • Monitors project budget/spending
  • Develop and track high-quality training projects, ensuring alignment between overall program strategy and cross-functional plans
  • Manage and implement training programs through associated scheduling, administrative, and maintenance tasks
  • Effectively communicates to promote and enhance participation and impact of internal training programs
  • Conducts project status briefings and develops relevant supporting communications and analyses such as dashboards, progress to plan
  • Assists with risk mitigation planning
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience, or relevant comparable background
  • Experience working with Medical Affairs roles and role-based curricula
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience required
  • Policy and process training experience required
  • Deep understanding of GXP and non-GXP training administration and requirements
  • Experience with learning analytics and data analysis techniques
  • Attention to detail and good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively and effectively in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks/projects at the same time together with daily planned and unplanned operational activities
  • Highly organized and works well in a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel
