Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent of four years of experience creating digital content and analyzing digital marketing metrics in a similar field.
  • Proven record for problem solving and successful completion of complex projects.
  • Experience using large-scale email marketing platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills, exemplary attention to detail, and the ability to multitask, prioritizing a high volume of projects at one time.
  • Experience using social media platforms for marketing.
  • Demonstrated writing, communication, and proofing skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse departments across an organization.

Preferred:

  • Four years of experience in creating digital content and analyzing digital marketing metrics.
  • Experience with Photoshop or similar graphic editing program.
  • Experience with video (shooting, editing, and management)
  • Experience with HTML coding, inline CSS (i.e. creating tables, links, etc.), and alt text.
  • Experience with project management

Overview
The Digital Marketing Associate at the University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) is part of the UMF Digital Marketing team. The person in this role will support the digital team in digital marketing and fundraising projects, participating in planning, execution, and maintenance elements. This person will work in UMF’s email marketing program, gain experience in social media marketing, and the opportunity to gain project management skills. The Digital Marketing Coordinator reports to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager on the Digital Marketing team.

Responsibilities
Support UMF’s email marketing program. (30%)

  • Use and modify existing responsive template designs, build dynamic content, populate content, handle send management, and report results.
  • Manually deploy weekly email campaigns using segmented lists.
  • Contribute to strategic planning in regards to email design, deliverability, and email marketing program capabilities.
  • Complete quality assurance checks on every email campaign.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal colleagues to effectively to execute email campaigns.
  • Update and report on weekly, monthly, and quarterly email analytics and conversion reporting.

Content creation for UMF’s priorities (30%)

  • Participate in the planning and content creation for UMF’s social media platforms and websites.
  • Create and work on video production projects including filming, editing, and promotion of video content.
  • Schedule and deploy social media content across UMF’s social media pages.

Support and contribute to key digital marketing projects, including planning, tactic execution, and maintenance for awareness-raising and fundraising campaigns, the U’s giving day, and other U campaign initiatives. (40%)

  • Participate in the strategy development and execution of some UMF digital marketing projects.
  • Assist in marketing needs tied to the digital team and new initiatives. This work could involve developing creative briefs and work plans, and assisting in executing marketing tactics—writing and sending emails, drafting social media content, executing a Facebook Live shoot.
  • Gain skills in analyzing digital metrics and formulating data-driven strategy recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage these projects by working with key partners and stakeholders around UMF and across the university.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship building skills and comfort in working a matrixed and ambiguous environment.
