The Department currently has an opening for one permanent full-time Accounts Services Technician-(Public Service Rep 4) within the Home Loan Services Division in Salem, Oregon. The successful candidate for the Accounts Services Technician position will be responsible for managing a varied, complex, and demanding caseload of files in various stages of the transfer process and ultimately ensuring the Department’s records accurately reflect all transfers of ownership, non-veteran assumptions, and transfer activities that include, but are not limited to, court orders, probate dispositions, deaths, and marriages. This position also ensures the accurate calculation of payoff quotes contained in payoff letters. This position initiates and completes the preparation and direction of the satisfaction documents and other pertinent papers on paid-in-full accounts. This position will assist in or processes the review of requests to add or cancel Loan Cancellation Life Insurance, add or delete insured’s and preparation to submit LCLI claims to the Insurance carrier. This position participates in a phone group that answers a statewide toll-free number. This requires the researching and analyzing of legal documents, loan records, financial statement (statement of account), while researching and reviewing interest rate changes and explains inquiries regarding the status of loan and contract accounts; completes loan calculations that include payment projections; and authorizes requests for second mortgage approval. Completes and verifies requests for certified copies of discharge/separation papers (DD214). This position analyzes and researches the Department’s records using knowledge and judgment to accurately assess and process information on active and inactive accounts. For the full list of specific duties and working conditions, see the Position Description by clicking here: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of experience performing public contact and/or customer service duties comparable to the work of a Public Service Representative.
At least two years of this experience must include dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services and programs; explaining rules, programs, and procedures; and/or providing assistance, explaining requirements, and gaining compliance. REQUESTED SKILLS: In addition to your related work experience and education, we will use the requested skills below to determine whom to interview.
  • Notary public or the ability to become a Notary public
  • Experience with legal mortgage loan documents, to include Satisfaction of Mortgages and Request for Reconveyance.
  • Understanding of the components of a valid mortgage payoff statement.
  • Working knowledge of loan servicing and an ability to answer general questions from mortgage borrowers and third-party vendors, primarily title and escrow companies.
