Accounts Payable Specialist


Delta Managed Solutions, Inc. (DMS) is a growing, successful 45+ employee company founded in 2003 to provide business and administrative "back office" services to public charter schools throughout California. While DMS is a private company, we strive to improve education for California's children through dedicated support of public charter schools and are seeking talented individuals to join our team who share this vision.


Seeking an AP Specialist to perform all AP-related functions for 3-6 client schools.

Prior accounts payable experience required.

Prior experience with purchase orders highly recommended.

Prior public school or non-profit financial experience a plus but not required.

Basic accounting knowledge (journal entries, debits/credits, etc.) a plus but not required.

Coordinating receipt and payment of invoices for 3-6 client schools, using in-house computerized accounting system.

Working with on-site finance staff to ensure accurate and timely payments and tracking of payments for all clients.

Coordinating remotely with school staff and vendors regarding payment approvals, purchase orders, receiving, and payment status via e-mail and phone.

Maintenance of client files, records, and procedures (including confidential personnel and legal records) -- AP Specialists have administrative support to handle copying/ scanning/ filing.

Performing bank reconciliations and entering deposit information into accounting system as needed.

Completing and filing various compliance reports, including Use Tax and Property Tax Exemption Reports.

Advising clients regarding payables best practices, policies, and procedures.

Representing firm professionally in telephone, e-mail, and in-person contacts in an office setting; primary client contact will be by telephone and e-mail.

Performing other related duties as assigned and as consistent with a small office.


Two (2) years direct AP experience, including use of purchase orders, required.

Extensive experience with computerized accounting software in areas of AP, especially school, other governmental, or non-profit systems.

General computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Internet research), particularly Excel a must.

Experience working with public schools, especially charter schools, a plus, but not required.


High school diploma required.

AA or 4-year degree a plus, but not required.

Courses in bookkeeping, accounting, office management, business, and related subjects helpful.


Applicants must be able to physically interact in an office setting.

Must be able to work independently.

Must exercise initiative and good judgment.

Must be capable of working to meet deadlines.

Must possess exemplary written and oral communication skills, professional office skills, and enjoy working in a (sometimes) fast paced, collegial environment.

Must be able to maintain a positive, professional, solution-oriented persona.
